If you’ve ever taken photos with a Polaroid SLR (like an SX-70 or SLR680), you’ll appreciate how hard it is to get precise geometric compositions like these. Things that weren’t in the viewfinder show up on the photo, lines are crooked, the entire composition is shifted in one direction or the other, etc. I chalk it up to the unusual ergonomics of the camera and the quirky viewfinder, and usually just avoid shots where strict composition is important, so I’m in awe of Grant Hamilton’s abilities here.

There’s a lot more of his Geometries set on Flickr and his homepage (he’s got a lot of wonderful non-Geometries photos, too).

By the way, if you’ve ever wondered how an SX-70 works, there’s a great old advertisement on YouTube that explains everything in delicious ’70s detail.
